Gill Lane is a well used footpath between Beckingham Church and The Green. It provides access to Beckingham Primary School and is regularly used by many villagers to access the Post Office on The Green. The hedge that forms the boundary between the school and the footpath is poorly maintained and has not been pruned or cut back. There are now brambles and hawthorn branches overhanging the path at head/face height and these are dangerous (particularly at dusk or in darkness as there is no lighting). The hedge has also been allowed to grow to such a height that it shades the gardens of residents living on The Crescent. NOTE: when contractors have trimmed the hedge in the past they have left the clippings in the ditch. This is not satisfactory as the ditch is actually important for drainage and flooding of the footpath has occurred.

The Hedge on Gill lane used to be no more than two meters high when kept well but they decided many years ago to plant trees on the school side so are unable to manage the hedge properly on the lane side, currently the hedge in places is as high as the trees totally out of control both trees and the hedge blocking essential sun light and is a very used path used by all the village especially elderly and parents with children.
